BRISTOL COMMUNITY COLLEGE THEATRE COMPANY STAGES ITALIAN COMEDY
The BCC Theatre Rep will stage a production of The Servant of Two Masters by Carlo Goldoni at the Jackson Arts Center Theater on November 17, 18, and 19 at 7:30 p.m.
The play is a modern interpretation of a 1700’s Commedia dell’ Arte (Italian comedy). The show tells the tale of an opportunist who unintentionally takes two jobs as a servant to two separate masters. The slapstick performance utilizes masks that create physical and symbolic expressions in the characters. “Masks inspire personality as well as take away emotion,” said Rylan Brenner, artistic director for the BCC Theatre Rep. “The play is a fun, over-the-top melodrama.”
The BCC Theatre Rep commonly incorporates various theatrical elements into their process. “Puppets, video, poetry, and sound create a one-of-a-kind performance,” said Brenner.
The BCC Theatre Rep is an opportunity to bring new and seasoned students to stage and give them a chance to work and learn together.
Tickets are $14 for the general public, $12 for faculty and staff, and $8 for students and seniors. The Bristol Community College Jackson Arts Center Theater is located at 777 Elsbree Street, Fall River, MA. Arrive early to take advantage of choice seating.
